Grundy County Extension, Iowa State University Extension and Grundy County Farm Service Agency have scheduled a 2009 Farm Bill meeting to be held in Grundy Center on Thursday, February 19th starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Community Center Wilts Room.
The meeting will cover the current Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program (DCP) as well as the new revenue component known as the Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) program.
The meeting is designed to assist farmers and landowners in their decision whether to enroll in the new ACRE program or stay with the current DCP.
FSA County Executive Director, Sandy Hoversten, will review general provisions of the DCP and ACRE programs.
ISU Extension Farm and Ag Business Management Field Specialist, Craig Chase, will discuss revenue features of the ACRE program. A web-based calculator will be presented which projects revenue and payments under ACRE.
The 2009 Farm Bill seminar is open to all. Pre-registration is requested by February 17, 2009 so adequate materials will be available.
For more information or to pre-register please call the Grundy County Extension Office at 319-824-6979.
